In Massachusetts you can order for your driving record through the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) Merit Rating Board (MRB). Your Massachusetts driving record contains your Personal information (Full name, driver’s license number, date of birth), past traffic violations, at-fault traffic accidents and out-of-state driving history (if applicable). The Massachusetts RMV offers two types of driving records, the unattested driving records, which are non-certified and the true and attested driving records, which are certified by the Massachusetts RMV.

You can order your own MA driving record online, by mail, by phone or in person. To order online, you have to visit the MA RMV Driving Record Request Website and provide your MA driver’s license number, full name, date of birth and Social Security number (SSN). To order by mail, you need to submit a Request for Driving Record that includes your full name, date of birth, MA driver’s license number and mailing address. Mail the above information to:

To order by phone, call: (857) 368-8000 from MA area codes 339/617/781/857 or (800) 858-3926 FREE from outside Massachusetts. To order in person, visit your local Massachusetts RMV office and provide your driver’s license. There are different fees for a certified and a non-certified driving record, for a certified driving record you will pay $20 and for a non-certified driving record you will pay $6, the state does not offer free driving records.

You can obtain another driver’s driving record if you meet one of the  following permitted use categories: an insurance agency investigating claims or adjusting policy rates, government agencies or an employer doing a back ground check or conducting a pre-employment screening.
