The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) is responsible for issuing of driving records (driver abstract). There are two types of driving records offered by the NDDOT, which include: Online driver abstracts and complete driver abstracts. Your driving record contains details about your driving history, such as traffic tickets and accidents,  violations, convictions, suspensions, accumulated ND driver license points and commercial driver information (if applicable).

The North Dakota DOT allows you to order for a copy of your driving record by mail, online, in person or by fax. You can order for your driving record online using the NDDOT Driver’s License Record Request System.  You will need to enter your information in the requester field (mandatory),  driver information (mandatory even if they are identical to the requester field), verify that you are ordering the correct ND driving record, select the driver and submit payment for your driver record fee. To order by mail, you will need to complete the Request for Driver Abstract (Form SFN 51386) and mail it to:

To order by fax, you need a completed Request for Driver Abstract (Form SFN 51386), fax the form to (701) 328-2435. You may only order for your driving record in person at the main DOT office in Bismarck:

The state does not offer free driving records, the fee for obtaining your driving record is $3. To order for the driving record for another driver, you must have their written consent. Visit the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) for more information.
